Dear Colleagues,
It is with great honour, expectation and joy we hereby invite you to participate in the 9th International Postgraduate Course in Endocrine Surgery. Previous courses have been delivered and supported by hundreds of colleagues who are now leading endocrine surgeons around the world. Also the locations have been outstanding, not least the highly successful 2006 course in Crete.
This time, the course will take place in another island: Scandinavia's paradise island Gotland, located in the Baltic Sea, 30 minutes by airplane from the Swedish capital Stockholm. Gotland offers a multitude of exciting activities, irrespective of whether you prefer nature, culture, adventure or nightlife. The capital of Gotland is the World Heritage City of Visby, a medieval walled-city. The Middle Age atmosphere of Visby is contrasted by modern convenience, with some of Sweden's best restaurants and hotels within walking distance from the brand new and truly spectacular Wisby Strand Congress & Event, located on the waterfront in downtown Visby. Both within and outside Visby, there is a multitude of places to visit, from which you can experience the very specific atmosphere and culture of Gotland. Gotland is one of the most visited summer paradises in Scandinavia, and at the end of August, the water is still warm and beaches inviting. Perhaps members of your family may join you for this visit?
The Course Faculty includes several major international contributors to the field of endocrine surgery. The Faculty has developed a program over four days, which covers the latest scientific and surgical developments in endocrine surgery. This will include the pathophysiology of common, as well as rare but illustrative surgical endocrine diseases, their diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and prognosis. There will be problem-solving and novel surgical technique sessions. We will do our outmost to encourage an interactive meeting with exchange of ideas and information as well as hands-on activities. For example, there will be great opportunities for case discussions in smaller groups together with authorities in the respective fields.
This course is temporarily replacing the ordinary biannual Nordic Postgraduate Course in Endocrine Surgery. Therefore, we hope that the Nordic contingent will be well represented, together with our friends and colleagues from afar!
On behalf of the Faculty, it is with pride and enthusiasm we invite all colleagues around the world with an interest in endocrine surgery to widen and refine their skills and knowledge during the 9th International Postgraduate Course. Join us for some great science and education in a wonderful location.
